Hooked on Phonics is a reading kit that help children from ages 3 to 5 learn to read. The purpose of this project is to motivate student learning by helping them to read as early as possible. Hooked on phonics teaches student to decode letters into the respective sounds which is a necessity in learning to read. Using hooked on phonics can motivate students to engage in their learning. When students learn to read, it increases their level of confidence. According to Frederick Douglass "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free". As a teacher, my pedagogy is to help promote students to read so they will be forever free.
