Following the lead of one of the top journalism schools in the country, the University of Missouri, the K.H.S. journalism program would like to allow our student journalists to explore aerial journalism more. We have done a few projects with students using their personal drones, but this has limited the number of kids who are getting this opportunity. I want them all to have the opportunity to explore this new area of media coverage. Students would be able to supplement their digital pieces on our website with aerial footage of our community and simply be creative with their craft. We study professionals and emulate what they are doing with this new technology as well as take risks and try new things our audience would hopefully like. As an educator, I simply love giving kids the tools. Sometimes we do not need an end outcome, we just need to say go, experiment and let's see where it takes us.
