My goal as a teacher is to make STEM accessible to all students while uncovering and utilizing each student's unique talent and curiosity for the world around them. A large part of my teaching philosophy comes directly from the belief that all students have various talents (kinesthetic, interpersonal, mathematic, visual, naturalistic, etc.) and in order to create the learning experiences my 5th grade students deserve, I need hands-on materials that they can design and build with. Each and every one of my students will use the materials funded through this project to shape their learning experiences be it through extensions or remediation. My goal in creating this project and gathering these STEM materials is to make STEM activities and learning accessible for all students by meeting them where they are. These materials will engage students in a collaborative and creative learning environment that is hands-on. The use of ozobot robots, building materials, brain-building puzzles, and more will help my students become more independent learners and develop 21st century skills including problem solving, comprehension, communication, creativity and critical thinking. Students will also develop social skills to enjoy cooperative planning and the managing of activities.
