My students need an authentic way to problem solve and collaborate with their peers in the classroom. As young students, they need to develop the skills to become thinkers and doers as 21st century learners. These manipulatives will give my students the ability to plan, design, and collaborate each morning in fun and creative ways. They will use these tools to develop their communication and problem-solving skills. These skills are the beginning of a Project Based Learning environment, where student engagement and authentic learning is essential to what is happening in the classroom. Having these resources in my classroom will allow me to begin the journey of Project Based Learning with my first graders.
