Flexible seating is a simple way to allow students to be in control of their own learning. During independent work times, they can choose a location that best suits their needs as a learner. Making sure students are comfortable within their learning environment is key to their success! I believe that the learning space is an important aspect of their whole educational experience. You cannot have a community of learners without having a positive instructional climate. My project will help me to create this climate by everything that the students do, from the way they respond to student questions to the arrangement of the classroom chairs. I want my students to use the classroom in the ways they needed to accomplish the learning goals I set for them as modern learners. By rearranging the classroom and providing options, I will foster open communication and collaboration between my students. Each student will be able to have a voice in their learning environment and take control of how they learn each day within their classroom.
