Lana'i Elementary HighSchool is the only K12 public school located on the small, private island of Lana'i in the beautiful Hawaii. Like most schools, Lana’i Elementary is extremely underfunded, making it challenging to get the daily supplies and materials we need. Each classroom is provided with desks, chairs, and a few shelves with a few old books. Other than the students' personal supplies, all other materials/ tools are left up to the teacher to purchase and provide for each student. We live in a very unique community. Our island is very limited to resources. The closest store to purchase school supplies is located on the next island over, Maui, which requires expensive transportation via the boat or an airplane. Imagine that this process makes it extremely challenging for parents and teachers to get the basic materials/tools for their students to use so they are able to learn, grow and become most successful in their academics. By donating to our project, the students will benefit by having a learning environment with proper supplies/tools available for their use such as the Sharp Tank pencil sharpener, flash drives, and headphones, but you will also help make the most of our academic lessons/projects which leads to increased student achievement and opportunities! Teachers are responsible to teach art in their classrooms. Common craft materials such as colored copy paper, clear tape, white out and sticky notes often need to be replaced. This donation will provide enough supplies for everyone! A classroom full of 6 and 7 year old students need DURABLE materials and tools to last throughout the wear and tear of their first grade adventures! Laminating projects, water proof name tags, and strong, plastic homework folders are highly recommended supplies teachers buy annually so ensure the materials last.
