Imagine you are learning to become a pilot. You have been training but have had to share all of your practice time piloting the plane with another trainee. Every couple of minutes you switch who is behind the Yoke handles of the plane. Your Pilot Exam comes up and you are expected to pass the test as if you had hours of training with every component necessary, but you haven't. Is this fair to the pilot? Could my students fairly and successfully navigate their way through the landscapes of the Common Core Regents Exam without enough practice time using and understanding their own graphing calculator? Can they afford to not have enough access to a tool that they will need experience with when they go on to college? Can they afford to not have enough access to a tool that enforces their conceptual understanding and fluency of a topic so vital to everyday life? The answer is no. They cannot afford this. Their future as a high school graduate depends on it. Their future as a college student depends on it. Their future in a STEM career depends on it. Help me supply individual access to the technology my students need to succeed, the technology they need to soar!
