My classroom is a safe place to learn. No one passes judgment and we all understand mistakes make us better learners. Although I offer a nurturing and encouraging classroom climate, the physical space can hinder student learning if it doesn't meet their needs. Students deserve a space they will enjoy and feel relaxed. Some students, particularly in the upper grades feel embarrassed going to the "Reading Room." I would like to turn my room into a "Reading Lounge" with flexible seating option. The wobble chairs will allow student to get the movement they need to better focus on learning. The lap desks will favor those student who prefer to work on the carpet or floor rather than the table. It will provide them with a stable space for their laptops and books.
