Every person has some type/s of sensory input they enjoy and others they dislike. For kids who seek out these sensory choices to regulate their body, it can become a powerful tool for classroom and social success. However, if they do not have access to them, it can result in stress, frustration, and an inability to attend to tasks. Some types of sensory input are easy to access with movement or pressure. Other types of input require special equipment. By providing children more sensory options, specifically choices like a swing or fidget, it will allow them to be more successful in class. Students can choose to take sensory breaks on a swing or fidget to calm their bodies down or use alternative seating to help focus throughout a lesson.
