Our class reads a few chapters at one time. The students are then broken into stations where every station is doing different standards. For example, one station will work on vocabulary, one station will work on summarizing each chapter, one station will work on the conflict, theme, setting, and tone of those chapter. I would love to be able to use the book "The Giver" for our next book to read and work through. There is an awesome resource to go through to break down what they read to use for other teaching opportunities. I think this book would one the students would enjoy more than "Holes".
