Our last learning unit in second grade is Animal Life Cycles. Students will research the life cycle, habitat, diet, predators, and other interesting facts about a specific animal. After they have become experts, students will write a script and record a video to teach others about this animal. We will then take a learning expedition to an animal rehabilitation zoo and attach QR bar codes of the videos so that anyone visiting the zoo can watch the videos made by the students. The Amazon Fire tablets will give students easier access to conduct independent research and then record the videos. With the additional technology, I can teach students how to edit their videos and publish for the public. We will also use tablets throughout the year during literacy and math centers.
