The materials that I requested will help me keep my students engaged throughout my lessons. Although I have a passion for teaching math, I realize that not all of my students feel the same way about math as I do. Many of them dread coming to class and learning about the missing angle in a triangle. Having the surface case and pen for my Microsoft Surface Pro will allow me to navigate my classroom freely without being confined by the board. I will be able to use teacher proximity and engage my students to participate, try out the problems, without them having to get out of their seat and weasel through 38 other students to get to the board! I hope to increase student participation by having my students try out example problems from the Microsoft Surface Pro and teach their peers their thought process as they solve through problems. Going up to the board in front of the whole class is scary. It's even scarier to try a math problem they are unsure of how to solve. By allowing me to freely walk around the classroom and approach students to solve problems, would help them stay engaged and more willing to participate.
