This iPad will be used solely for my students to communicate with the staff and their peers in the school. It will give students who may feel their voice has never been heard, a chance to communicate their wants and needs in a new way. I will put an app on the iPad that enables the students to communicate and increase language skills through touching icons. I want my students to express themselves and let their voices be heard. With this project being funded, my students who can not verbally communicate yet, will count out loud, cheer on their friends during games in gym, and say how they are feeling. These are things they often can not show easily and can be extremely frustrating for them. This piece of technology will move them towards a more independent education and provide a means for increasing positive social skills as they learn to request items and answer questions.
