Something I want to teach my students is that music is a social activity and a consistent part of our everyday lives both formally and informally. A drum circle is a great way to emphasize beat and rhythm with their friends while also fostering creativity! Music is meant to be shared with friends and family and I love using drum circles to help students express their creativity and natural instincts for music making. The donations to this project will help emphasize the diverse sounds of percussion instruments. I chose Remo drums that are specifically made for students' small hands so they will be successful in creating a round, resonant sound. Drum circles help students to authentically experience music making as well as recognizing the importance of drumming in the everyday lives of many different cultures and societies. As a music teacher, I have been a part of and led drum circles and have seen students excitedly describe their benefits. Your support will help my students get access to some of the best musical instruments! Thank you!
