Sentence writing and handwriting has always been very difficult for me to teach and for my students to learn. My students progress much slower than their typical peers and need much more repetition of these basic skills. This can be a challenge to keep learning activities fun and exciting for all as we practice these skills longer than typical. This writing program teaches writing systematically in many fun ways with songs and hands on materials. My beginning writing group is beginning to learn to hold a pencil correctly and write their names. The wood pieces in this program allow the kids to make the letters. Then they write the letter on a chalkboard. Then they write the letters on paper. There are memorable phrases that are said when writing each letter the kids learn to repeat to themselves. My most advanced writing group is beginning to learn how to put simple sentences together. This writing book will give my many teaching ideas that lean towards being more naturally motivational. I used this writing program in a previous state in which I lived with my special education students. I have never seen so much progress in the area of writing as quickly as I did as when I used this with my special education students. I have recently moved to a new state and school district and do not have access to this program. My students would benefit immensely from this program.
