For this project, I am requesting forty-five copies of "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian," by Sherman Alexie. I plan to have students in my English III American Literature class read this book at the end of this school year! My students' needs and abilities vary greatly. All of my students will be able to identify with the main character, Junior, in this book and will take encouragement from its positive messages of hope and perseverance! This text will be particularly helpful and inspiring for those students who currently find themselves in a difficult situation. This is a high-interest text that will keep my students interested and engaged, even at the end of the school year.
