My students started off the year by creating a textile which communicated their interests and unique personalities. As we progress through history, we have learned about many inventions, including coding, which was inspired by looms and weaving. When finish the year, I will bring everything we have learned together with a future forward interest that is often in the headlines: how do we build a sustainable and self-sufficient colony on a planet like Mars? It starts with knowing the basics. We will have to learn how to manufacture our own products, recycling and using available materials to build what we need. It will take engineers, botanists, artists, biologists and people who understand how we got to where we are today. Our STEM fair will demonstrate that we have the technology necessary to make this probability attainable for the generation we are raising today, the Mars Generation.
