Many of the students in my classroom come from low-income homes. The more hands-on activities we can provide them each day, the better they will be prepared for kindergarten. I have included math activities, literacy activities, and dramatic play toys. Most of the toys also incorporate fine motor skills and interaction skills such as sharing, taking turns, and negotiating what they want and needs. The children have used a light table occasionally in our classroom. It is a great way for them to learn. It's so engaging and captures their attention. They are always eager to use it to reinforce their skills.
