I work with students who are struggling with social skills and anxiety. I am the Speech/Language Therapist in my school and have headed up a mindfulness group to address these concerns. I teach social skills in my group therapy and also in this specialized Zen Kids Mindfulness Group. This group includes general education students as well as special education students. I have gotten positive feedback on the success of this group from teachers as well as parents. I teach the students yoga, relaxation, and mindfulness skills to deal with the anxiety of test taking as well as social anxiety. The yoga mats would be a great addition to our experience as the students will no longer have to lay on the floor. The glitter glue and sequins will be used to make glitter jars for calming the mind.
