Many of my students are behind their peers academically because they are learning in a second language. This limits their opportunities to take advanced classes that are thematic like those in college and which allow them to practice deeper analysis of literature and its connections to society. My goal is to create a class that offers my students some of the rigor and structure honors courses offer their students while being tailored to the needs and abilities of English Language learners. In addition, we will explore current events to help students learn about what is happening in the world around them (in particular in the United States) so they can become more savvy about the country that is now their home.

About my class
