Our school does not have a library and with the current state of the nation it is unsafe to travel to the library on a field trip. That being said, many scholars do not have access to reading materials. Research has shown that reading improves cognitive abilities in all areas. It can also be shown that the test scores of our scholars now are what is used to predict the number of prison beds needed in the future, based simply off of their reading abilities. This shows the importance of availability to reading materials. To build the skill and desire to read in young minds is important not only for the short term completion of assignments but long term gain of thinking skills and life skills. Helping to supply books to the middle school students at Academy of Math and Science Avondale will also help to supply them a successful future.
