The students will walk across the curriculum. They will use the distance formula; calculate the amount of distance walked; budget their money; learn to cook and to lodge; inquire about the weather; and learn to use a pedometer, measuring tape, and camping equipment in math and science. Likewise, they will learn how to read a map instead of using Google maps in case there are areas with no internet. They will research the life and cultures of various states they visit and write summaries from their adventure in journals. The students will walk with backpacks on their backs in PE to experience what it will actually feel like walking the journey. This project can be used in Language Arts, Science, Math, Geography, Physical Education, and Character Education.
