My students are working to solve a variety of word problems, which require the ability to identify and solve for missing information. To achieve this, students must be able to comprehend what is being asked, and manipulate data to find a solution. OSMO activities provide hands-on learning of basic skills in phonics and numbers and operations, which are needed to complete their work. With an OSMO, my students can connect technology with content, and physically manipulate the data and/or information. Students work collaboratively to reach a variety of outcomes and discuss their results with others. The end result is a deeper understanding of context and increased comprehension of content in reading and math.
