The children in my classroom would benefit from the use of an art easel to be able to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions through painting. Not only will children be exploring creative arts, but also developing fine motor skills with each stroke of the paintbrush. Research shows that using art to teach across the curriculum increases student engagement. Art promotes the development of 21st Century Skills: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration. When children use paint as a media they not only express their creativity, but they are enhancing their critical thinking skills as they plan the placement of each color.
