Autism is a life long developmental disability that prevents individuals from properly understanding their experiences. Our students have severe deficits in receptive and expressive language. Learning is difficult through concepts, our students need actual pictures of an item to understand the item. A apple must be an apple, not just a line drawing of the image. As a computer lab, we are adapting books, taking actual photos, creating experience charts and making year books for our students. Almost everything we do centers around the use of a camera. Importing students photos into various themes and having fun with art and color using their photo as a motivator. Our students focus and learn more by making everything they do interactive and personal.
