Flexible seating has greatly improved the quality of my classroom over the last several years. Students perform best when comfortable in their environments. Providing comfortable, durable options for student seating from the beginning of the school year, will help my new fourth graders to start the year in a positive way. Lap trays will provide a sturdy space for writing comfortably during writing workshop. Wobble stools will allow students who need to move, the ability to do so while staying engaged in their independent reading. A bistro table can be a private spot to conduct reading conferences, giving students a chance to talk about the books they are reading. The requested materials will greatly improve the atmosphere of collaboration and learning in my fourth grade classroom.
