Research has suggested that flexible seating provides students the unique opportunity to have a choice in the classroom. My students will be able to choose various places in the classroom to complete their independent assignments that work best for them. During group activities, students are able to break off into different groups to work in areas such as: bouncing ball area, sitting on the rug with their clipboards, sitting on the sofa, working at the computer station. When students are comfortable and confident in their education, they are more equipped to be successful. Currently, I only have pillows in my classroom and I have already noticed some extreme growth in their literacy by being able to make a choice to sit on the pillows. Additionally, my students are also more focused and engaged with each other in group work. The selected products will assist my students in building the community in my classroom, giving them the ability to make a choice, and strengthen their confidence in literacy. The furniture is lightweight and can be moved around by the students in the area that they choose.
