Currently, we teach hydroponics and we use a plastic tub of water, a plastic floating piece, and green bean seedlings that the students grow. Every year the green beans mold or shrivel up and die due to the lack a flow of water. The students begin to doubt hydroponics. These hydroponic systems are necessary for teaching students the success of hydroponics. This way of growing plants without soil is hard to believe for third-grade students. These hydroponics systems would help us (the teachers) effectively teach the outcome of growing vegetables without soil and the benefits and successes of using hydroponics.
