I am designing a French 4 class based on the themes of education, colonization, French history, racism/ prejudice, and modern day life in France. For each unit, I'd like to show students a French movie that depicts the above themes to help spark conversation in French and bring alive French history and culture. I am looking for movies for colonization (Indochine), French history (Joyeux Noel and Au Revoir les Enfants), and modern day life in France (Les Intouchables). I showed these movies in class at a previous school, and the students greatly enjoyed talking about them in correlation to how they depict francophone culture.
