We are requesting books that my students can identify with and that represent the uniqueness of each of them. Our titles include The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes, I Am Enough, Drawn Together, A Different Pond and many more. Students will enjoy these stories and they will be able to make connections, as they see themselves, their friends, and their families in the characters. The books I have chosen use inclusive language and illustrations, which are important to the social and emotional well-being of students, which translates to academic growth and success. Your donation will help me expose my students to themes, such as kindness, empathy, equality, respect for differences, and compassion, that make the world a better place. "Hey: That's just like me!" I hope to hear this phrase again and again during our classroom read aloud discussions.
