Our school is set in a poverty stricken neighborhood where many parents do not take the time to teach their children basic hygiene practices. Many of the middle school girls do not how to clean themselves, have strong body odor, and don't have any role models. I would like to set an example for these girls. Teach them how to properly bathe, how often to wash their hands, and how to use a sanitary pad. I hope better hygiene will lead to less bullying and a safer campus. Most of the supplies I requested are daily necessities that these students do not have access to. Many students ask me for sanitary pads or deodorants on a daily basis and I would like to provide these for them. Tissues, gloves, and plastic bags are all part of creating a clean and welcoming health room. Hand sanitizer, face cleanser, feminine hygiene products, and lotion are items these families can not afford and I would like to provide.
