I believe that when students are in an environment they are comfortable with, they are more successful. Yet, every school that I've ever been a part of has students sitting in hard, uncomfortable chairs. I want to do whatever I can to help my students be successful. I beleive that adding rolling chairs and seat cushions will help maximize student learning. Adding these as options will help each student be more comfortable and in turn more focused. The longer they sit in the old fashioned school chairs, the more uncomfortable they get, and the more uncomfortable they get, the more they lose focus. Adding rolling chairs, and seat cushions as an option will also empower them by giving them the choice to sit where they want, using whichever seating medium they choose. Adding rolling chairs and floor cusions will also make rotation time more effective because the flexible seating options can be moved anywhere in the room that works for them that day. In an effort to help students increase their focus, I will use the noise reduction ear muffs to help reduce distractions. There are many different things going on around us, other classes transitioning in the hall, an autism class with a very vocal student, and normal classroom interactions. All of these things can cause a student who struggles with focusing and staying on task, to struggle even more. Therefore, the noise reduction ear muffs will be used to help minimize these distractions.
