We live in a society where we are continuously growing, developing and learning is critical to success. Prior to children entering elementary school they develop a wonderful sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness, sadly it is often loss once they enter elementary school. STEM activities will continue to encourage and develop their curiosity and inquisitiveness. STEM activities foster a life long love for learning.The Makey Makey allows you to take everyday objects and combine them with a computer and the internet. Using the alligator clips attached to any conductive material you can control the keyboard of your computer. We could use marshmallows for instance and play the keys on a piano or Super Mario. Squishy Circuits and Snap Circuits teach many principles of engineering and physical science, and introduce children to the components of basic circuitry including electronic flow, positive/negative poles, resistors, capacitors, serial and parallel circuitry, and many others. While children do learn these concepts in middle school, the toy’s design encourages children in inventive design and problem solving, spatial orientation, and electricity at an age when fear isn’t necessarily partnered with learning.
