By providing flexible seating for my students it will give them a choice to determine what type of seating works best for them to stay engaged in their learning. Research has shown that flexible seating supports children’s physical movement around the classroom, as this encourages blood flow and in turn keeps them focused and motivated in their learning. It also gives them the power of choice, which gives them ownership. The flexible seating that I have chosen will help my students by giving them seating options that will help them stay engaged in their learning. The wobble chairs, stools, and yoga-balance balls will allow students to work at their tables while still being able to release energy. The pillow/cushions and bean bags will be used at our tables without legs (floor seating) for students to continue to work while releasing energy. The flexible seating can easily be moved around the room to be used during different activities and areas in our classroom throughout our learning day! I have spent time researching the positive affects of flexible seating and I am very hopeful that these items will help my students grow in their learning even more! Thank you for considering helping me give my students flexible seating options such as wobble chairs, yoga-balance balls, pillows/cushions for floor, bean bags, and stools to promote a learning environment that meets the various needs of my students to encourage engagement in our classroom.
