These Spheros will help students to bring their coding and problem-solving skills to life. Working through the Sphero Edu app students will be able to create their programs on their Chromebooks. They will be able to visually see their creation in Sphero Edu work with the Spheros. Students will be able to then see what needs to be modified or adjusted based on what their outcome should be and what their outcome currently is. This will also help students with their debugging, reading, step by step process and much more. Student projects will include a variety of Sphero challenges that the students will work to complete. Some examples of these will be an engineering challenge where they first have to build a bridge that will allow the Sphero to get across the space. They will have to have the Sphero safely get to the bridge, stop on the bridge, and fully cross the bridge without any issues. Another challenge will be a dance where students can program their Sphero to move, spin, change colors, and "dance" to a song. We also would like to do a battlebot challenge where the students would use the Sphero to move their bot around and see if it can handle the ring. Students would build a variety of skins for their bots to keep the Sphero safe but also to help them in the ring. Mazes and obstacle courses are also challenges we would complete with the Spheros. The most important skills and things this project will help our students with is teamwork, coding, computational thinking, and many other technology skills needed in our schools to create STEAM programs, continue these programs, and get students interested and involved in these types of activities they otherwise wouldn't be doing.
