My students range from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade. Our collection is dated and needs improvement. These books will lower our collection age, providing newer literature for our students. My selection of Kindergarten through Second Grade texts is not as large as my students need. These books will increase my circulation, putting more books in little hands! Students will check out these texts on a daily basis. They read them several times, over the course of a day or two, then test on the book with our Accelerated Reader program. Having a good selection of books is important because they can pick out a book that interests them. If it interests them, they'll try harder, persevere, and be more successful. Success in reading builds confidence and vocabulary which translates to success in the classroom. If kids believe in themselves, they will achieve, and if they achieve they will succeed!
