These appliances will help teach our students not only in my classroom, but in the whole school how to live a more independent life. They can practice cooking, cleaning, and organizational skills. Using an oven or stove can be challenging for anyone let alone someone with disabilities. It can be dangerous as well. Its so important to practice using an oven or stove to cook because its a common task that they may face after they leave school. Not only will they be able to practice using a stove or oven, but it can also be adapted to functional reading, math, and science lessons as well. Teaching students to be more independent is a foundation skill that should be focused on in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom. Giving these these students the opportunity to live more independent lives allows them to have a chance in society. In my personal opinion it helps them to be more happy and in what world would we not want to give children and students the chance to be happy.
