I have chosen items that will allow students to have their choice in seating in my classroom. In my room currently, the students only have pillows. These pillows have become worn out, but my students love being able to take a pillow in the room and sit wherever they want. Studies have shown that flexible seating allows students to stay calm, focus, and be more productive in the classroom. I have a lot of interesting needs in my first grade classroom and want to give students the opportunity to dream and fly. With the options of lounge chairs and floor desks, students can stay calm and focus on their work. Since we are moving away from our desks, we are going to need a place to store our materials, hence the shelving unit and the storage ottomans. The ottomans will be used for us to sit on and store our leveled readers. We look forward to having these items in our classroom to help us transform our space to have a bigger focus on learning.
