My goal is to develop engaging lessons that meet students where they are and intentionally build their skills towards becoming fluent readers. I will work with students in small groups of four to six. I will guide students in practicing word work and then applying our learning to the books we are reading together. Spanish magnetic color-coded letters with six Spanish accented vowels and the Spanish consonant characters of ch, ll, ñ and rr will give our students hands-on learning opportunities to build words to help identify and practice patterns of language. These language skills are foundational to reading. Our goal is that students will be able to visualize words in syllables in order to decode more and more complicated words. This then builds reading fluency which will ultimately help student improve their reading comprehension skills. As a Spanish Immersion school, many of our Spanish materials cost more and are more difficult to find than English materials. Our school was able to purchase Spanish magnetic letters for five classrooms last year but with reduced funding I need your help to provide Spanish magnetic letters and related materials to my classroom so I can better serve my emerging readers.
