I am second year teacher, and I moved from a fully carpeted classroom, with a large group meeting area rug included, to a room of complete tile with one small rug. I was able to find a few rugs for free, but not big enough to fit all my students on. It is also old enough that it is unraveling, and it sometimes slides when I students are sitting or walking on it. This project would allow my students a nice, safe area for us to meet on every morning for our large group meeting, as well as for large group lessons, independent and collaborative work. I would like it this big to be able to extend over under my large group meeting table as well, where I do flexible seating. The fact that my current carpeting will slip and slide under my students` feet now concerns me of my students` safety. I teach in a Title I school, and a rug like this would be used multiple times daily, and for years to come. It would help my classroom foster the feel of a home for my class, as well as help keep them warm and comfortable as oppose to sitting on the cold tile. I am asking for another one in the library. We are only at our desks for small parts of the day, and the rest I like to let my students stretch out across the room and work, both independently and collaboratively.
