My students come into first grade every year at a variety of reading levels. Some are just beginning to develop their understanding of phonics and phonemic awareness; whereas, others are reading fluently and comprehending text well beyond the grade level standard. No matter what level of reading my students come in at, I want to make sure all students have access to reading materials at their reading level and that are of high interest to them. If students don’t have this, they won’t be eager to read and in turn won’t grow as readers which is so important in these early developmental years. I am so excited to have all of you help me provide opportunities for all students to have reading materials that speak to them and grow the confidence they deserve.
