Flexible seating provides an opportunity for students to choose their seats within the classroom in order to find the best learning space for them. Not every student feels comfortable learning at a traditional desk and chair. I have chosen a variety of options of seating for my students so that they can find the space that works best for them. Creating a more student-directed classroom gives the students a sense of agency and a desire to seek out their own learning opportunities. I believe that flexible seating will set the atmosphere for the environment I hope to create. All of my students focus much better when they are sitting comfortably around the room. Currently, I do not have many options to offer for my students for flexible seating around the room. I believe that these new options will allow my students to focus much more on their work.
