My students are third graders on a military base in Kansas. This school is considered high poverty due to the number of students that qualify for free/reduced lunch based on their parent/s income. The children in my class come from all over the country and are from every race and creed. I have several English Language Learners and Special Education students in my class this year. Due to frequent moving during the school year, my students are on different reading levels. I have some students reading on first grade level and some reading on a fifth grade level! My classroom library just does not have that wide of a variety and I would like my students to be reading on their specific instructional level. The research shows that reading on their level and taking Accelerated Reading quizzes on books on their level leads to significant improvement. My students love to read, I just have to provide them with the materials they need!
