These books will help to inspire and excite my new readers to pick up and book and explore the written word. I would like my classroom library to be a place that students want to be- to pick out a pillow and a good book and practice their reading strategies that will be so beneficial to them later in life. I place a big focus on treating books with kindness and love, and my students are very gentle with the few books that I do have now. A few in the selection are books that I have checked out from my local library in the past and read out loud, and have quickly become books that I constantly reference or that the students beg for me to check out from the library again! I would like books that excite students, that they want to pull off the shelf and explore. My students practice reading to themselves every week, and are ready for more books to expand their minds.
