The number one question I hear every single day is... "Can I borrow a pencil?" I usually respond with the typical teacher "MAY I borrow a pencil?", but the answer is always yes. My students have so many struggles at home and at school, the last thing they need is guilt over not having supplies. Once students are ready to work, pencil in hand, the next hurdle to overcome is student motivation. Think back to fifth grade. Was there anything better than when your hard work was recognized with a special treat or reward? Motivating students to do their best in math is tricky business, and we all know the way to a child's heart is through their stomach. Help me give my students access to basic school supplies to complete their work, and treats to encourage them along the way!
