My students come from diverse backgrounds, and I unfortunately see the affect their home life has on them everyday in the classroom. They constantly put themselves down or completely avoid assignments, thinking they can't do it. On top of this, my students are struggling to understand how to work with their disability in order to be successful. My classroom provides the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them. I have more opportunities to work individually with students on their own goals and areas of needs. My students are motivated by things they know they can reach. I make sure they have simple goals so they feel successful with each small victory and will be less likely to give up.
