As science evolves we are moving into more project based learning. This is a huge leap away from the recipe type labs you probably remember doing. In this process students are presented with a problem, make a claim, collect evidence through investigation and experimentation and then present reasoning based on their findings and prior knowledge. This CLAIM - EVIDENCE - REASONING is presented on a poster or, ideally, a whiteboard. The next step is often the most important in real scientific learning. Students walk around the classroom and review other groups findings, ask questions and make observations. Then they can return to their board and make adjustments based on what they learned from other teams.
