Our preschool classroom has loved building and deconstructing towers since the first day of school. Stemming from this interest, we have decided to take a deeper look at architecture, construction, and types of buildings. This has led us to our long-term building inquiry and study, which we would like to complete by taking a trip to the Willis Tower. This field trip will allow the children to culminate their study and celebrate their learning by taking a look at a beautiful piece of the city. Living in Chicago and studying buildings, it seems that it would be a great waste to go without experiencing one of the most famous buildings in the world, right in our backyard. The children will have a chance to interview a building worker, see the building's exhibits, eat lunch in the tower, and finally ride up to the 103rd floor to experience the 'Ledge' and get a chance to see some of the world's greatest architecture from 1,353 feet.
