Our Math lesson each day begins with a presentation of a slideshow to my students. The slides begin with review of previously learned skills. It offers sample questions, often multistep word problems, that require the students to use their problem solving skill to solve. They write their work on a dry erase board and hold it up for me to check. When the class is ready, we go over each item and discuss the strategy we each took to solve the problems. From there, the slides move on to introduce the new skill from the lesson. Again, the students practice examples on their boards. The ability to practice problems and get immediate feedback on their answers is priceless. Unfortunately, our boards are dilapidated and falling apart. We would love to continue this practice for years to come.
