Our project will reinforce the character education/social emotional learning traits of gratitude, teamwork, service, and respect. The request for fleece comes from knowing that the material itself, is a versatile fabric, which can be manipulated easily by our students, to create beautiful blankets and pillow covers for those in need. The warmth of the fleece is symbolic of the warmth and empathy that we want to instill in our students, as they learn about the needs of special groups within our community, and work collaboratively, making blankets. The project will be completed over a series of sessions, but after initial instruction and support, the children will be able to work independently with their groups.
